Los avances del realismo se han convertido en un tema dominante de los actuales debates sobre teoría de la historia. El idealismo lingüístico del último cuarto del siglo XX, ubicado en la línea de la tradición hermenéutica, había definido a la historiografía como una tarea de representación textual. El contacto con la realidad se redujo a la atribución de significados y el pasado en cuanto tal se transformó en ausencia, en un lugar inaccesible. Los textos pasaron a sustituir al mundo exterior. Como reacción a este narrativismo radical de carácter metafórico, y, en respuesta a la sentida necesidad de establecer la reconexión con el pasado y de superar la autorreferencialidad textual, ha surgido un nuevo realismo, que procura recolocar a la ontología en el centro de la reflexión teórica. En su versión más reciente, el nuevo realismo dedicado a rescatar la entidad del pasado ha centrado su atención en la "presencia" del pasado. El término "presencia" se está convirtiendo en la consigna principal de una nueva conceptualización, basada en un discurso teórico alternativo, no hermenéutico, que está desplazando la atención hacia el estatuto ontológico de la historia. En este trabajo se presentan las principales hipótesis que, desde diversos ángulos, adhieren a este nuevo giro teórico. La presentificación del pasado ha comenzado a ser sostenida por diversas líneas argumentativas que apelan a la dimensión material, a la noción de autenticidad y a la producción de la presencia mediante el lenguaje.

The advances of realism have become a dominant issue in current debates on history theory. The linguistic idealism of the last quarter of the twentieth century in line with the hermeneutic tradition had defined historiography as a task of textual representation. Contact with reality was reduced to the attribution of meaning and the past itself becomes absence, in an inaccessible location. The texts came to replace the outside world. In reaction to this radical narrative with a metaphorical character, and in response to the perceived need for reconnection with the past and to overcome the textual self-referenced, a new realism has emerged, which seeks to relocate the ontology in the center of the theoretical reflection. In its latest version, the new realism dedicated to rescuing the past entity has focused on the "presence" of the past. The term "presence" is becoming the main slogan of a new concept based on a not hermeneutical alternative theoretical discourse, which is shifting attention to the ontological status of history. In the present work, the main hypotheses, introduced, from various angles, adhere to this new theoretical rotation. The past presentification has begun to be supported by different lines of argument appealing to material dimension, to notion of authenticity and production of presence through language.
