La Revolución Mexicana fue un movimiento de masas que obedeció a circunstancias locales y nacionales; la participación de la mujer, específicamente las soldaderas, en las diferentes regiones y fracciones revolucionarias también siguió esas pautas de espontaneísmo. Las mujeres estuvieron detrás de sus hombres, a su lado y muchas veces sin ellos. En la medida en que la lucha armada se hizo más cruenta y la escasez más apremiante, la mujer incrementó su participación revolucionaria, pero ésta cobró matices específicos en razón de la región y del grupo revolucionario al que se afilió.

The Mexican Revolution was a movement of the masses that obeyed local and national circumstances; the participation of women, specifically the soldaderas, in the different regions and revolutionary fractions also followed these rules of spontaneity. The women stood behind their men, at their side and very often without them. As armed fighting grew bloodier and scarcity more pressing, the women increased their revolutionary participation, but this took on specific aspects according to the region and the revolutionary group to which they were sffiliated to.
